BauernLodge in Tyrol

We’re gathering the addresses of the best B&Bs, hotels and other overnight locations we can find. All of which, we feel, are great places to go for a weekend or a bit longer. Located in the Tyrolean alpine valley of Lechtal, the BauernLodge offers up three cozy apartments and, thanks to the use of wood and warm materials, it’s a place that immediately feels like home.

What makes BauernLodge a great place to stay?
Be it during the summer months or winter, the BauernLodge is a comfortable, homely base for all your mountain activities. Whether you’re with family or a group of friends, owner Klaas has a varied program ready for you. And after a strenuous hut-to-hut hike or a wonderful day’s skiing, coming back to your cozy apartment here is just like coming home.

What’s for breakfast?
You make your own breakfast in the apartment. Sign up for the bread service, and you’ll get freshly-baked Kaiser rolls delivered every morning. When you book a special theme week at the BauernLodge, a mountain breakfast at a special location is also included.

Our tip
This time, we have a spectacular tip for you. Just ten minutes away from the lodge is the world’s longest suspension bridge, the Highline179. It’s the pride of Tyrol and runs to the ruins of Fort Claudia.

Good food
You can prepare a great meal in your apartment, but also make your way to one of the traditional restaurants in the village of Höfen or an authentic mountain hut. From Tiroler Gröstl to Kaiserschmarrn, and Knödel to, of course, schnitzels that reach beyond the edges of your plate, Tyrolean cuisine is diverse and incredibly tasty.

Prices start at €70 per night.
