We’re gathering the addresses of the best B&Bs, hotels and other overnight locations we can find. All of which, we feel, are great places to go for a weekend or a bit longer. Situated in the hills of Andalusia is Finca Alegria de la Vida, a colorful B&B that is sheer joy.
What makes Finca Alegria de la Vida a great place to stay?
Everything. From the warm hospitality of owners Bert and Margreet to the views over the hills; from the heady scent of jasmine to the stunning flowers in the garden; from the wonderful lounge area by the pool to the colorful rooms and glamping tents (our favorite: the bell tent); and from the breakfast to Margreet’s beautiful words. The name of this special place says it all: it’s where you’ll experience joy.
What’s for breakfast?
In the morning, the long table under the Peruvian pepper tree is laid with colorful plates, freshly-squeezed juice from their homegrown oranges, homemade jam, yogurt with nuts and seeds, fresh bread, and a daily surprise.
Our Tip
A walk on the Caminito del Rey is a must during your stay at Finca Alegria. The impressive footpath is situated on the hillside, high above the steep El Chorro gorge.
Good food
Tapas in every form and flavor—you’re in Spain after all. The best is to eat it in a small restaurant, surrounded by Spaniards. But the tapas Bert makes is also excellent. Which is perfect if you fancy spending the evening at home.
Rooms and glamping tents start at €60 per night, including breakfast.
