We’re gathering the addresses of the best B&Bs, hotels and other overnight locations we can find. All of which, we feel, are great places to go for a weekend or a bit longer. When you stay at the Thecla Renders Bed & Breakfast in Den Bosch, it’s really evident that you’re staying with an artist.
What makes Thecla Renders a great place to stay?
It is a charming bed and breakfast located in the heart of Den Bosch, North Brabant. The owner, Thecla Renders, is an artist – a fact that is plain to see in everything around you. The place is filled with color, beautiful paintings, flowers, colorful tableware and lovely still lifes, to name but a few of the wonderful things there. You sleep in an old-fashioned typical Dutch box bed, under a vibrant duvet. What’s more, the room at the back has a balcony overlooking the surrounding gardens, and there are also bicycles available to rent.
What’s for breakfast?
Breakfast by candlelight and with fine music; how nice is that? Perfect for food lovers, the organic breakfast is deliciously extensive: oatmeal, scrambled eggs with salmon, fruit salad, muesli, juices, sausage rolls and croissants. Wonderfully Brabants.
Our tip
Take a cruise down the underground river, “The Dieze,” where you’ll find yourself in the Middle Ages. A magical place is the Cathedral Church of St. John (Sint-Janskathedraal) with its statue of the “Sweet Mother” (Zoetmoeder) in the Chapel of Mary, where everyone walks in with flowers and messages and to light a candle.
Good food
Head over to Korte Putstraat, where every place in this short street offers food or drinks. You’re bound to find something you’ll like.
A room for two at Thecla Renders Bed & Breakfast costs €90 per night, excluding breakfast. Breakfast is €7.50 per person.
