Cabanes La Truite d’Argent

We’re gathering the addresses of the best B&Bs, hotels and other overnight locations we can find. All of which, we feel, are great places to go for a weekend or a bit longer. Leave the hustle and bustle of the city and everyday life, and escape to the tranquility of Cabanes La Truite d’Argent in the Ardennes, Belgium.

What makes Cabanes La Truite d’Argent a great place to stay?
Two wooden cabins lay hidden among the green (or snow-laden, depending on time of year) trees in a peaceful valley near Houffalize. Located by a stream, the two-person cabins are the ideal getaway for a peaceful retreat, or a romantic weekend away. Curl up by the wood-burning stove with a book or glass of wine (or both) in hand, or enjoy the evenings (be they warm summer ones or cosy cold ones) from the veranda.

What’s for breakfast?
You need to make your own breakfast, but you can also opt to take a morning stroll and walk over to the nearby inn for your morning meal (€12.50 p.p.)  Oh, and if you’re just a coffee-for-breakfast kind of person, then you’ll be pleased to learn that each cabin has its own Nespresso machine.

Our tip
Walk to the village of Houffalize. The 1.5-hour walk will take you through the forest of De Deux Ourthes nature park. After a coffee, lunch or glass of Belgian beer, you can repeat the picturesque experience on your way back to your cabin.

Good food
With the associated inn within walking distance, you don’t exactly have to go far for your dinner. And you won’t be disappointed as every day, they serve a varied four-course meal, using fresh ingredients.

A stay starts at €330 per weekend.
