We’re gathering the addresses of the best B&Bs, hotels and other overnight locations we can find. All of which, we feel, are great places to go for a weekend or a bit longer. Not only does Cornelis in Utrecht make and sell great coffee, it’s also one great guesthouse, where you feel right at home.
What makes Cornelis a good place to stay?
Bas, Dave and the family dog Flo welcome you to the Cornelis café and shop, which can be found behind a historic, olive-green facade in the beautiful city of Utrecht. As well as the cozy café and shop, they also have a guesthouse in the former coach house. The rooms are light and spacious, and you’ll feel right at home. What’s more Bas and Dave know all the best places to eat and shop.
What’s for breakfast?
After a good night’s sleep, you can enjoy breakfast in the café. You can choose the French breakfast (orange juice, croissant with jam and a boiled egg), or go for the kick-start breakfast (orange juice, Greek yogurt with crunchy granola and honey). And of course, a delicious cup of coffee or tea—Cornelis is also a coffee shop after all.
Our tip
There’s so much to do in and around Utrecht. In the summer, it’s lovely to head over to the Wilhelminapark, armed with food and drinks, and relax the day away. And if you want to get to know Utrecht a bit more, we recommend taking a stroll along Oudegracht and through the streets with the best shops around.
Good food
Utrecht has so many fine places to eat in, that it is difficult to name one restaurant, but Te Koop on Biltstraat is a good choice, as is Gastmaal Café (with its lovely wine shop). You can eat a great pizza at BastaCosi or pinchos at De Zwarte Vosch.
Price: €115 per night for two people, excluding breakfast. Breakfast costs €7.50 per person.
