We are busy gathering the addresses of the best B&Bs, hotels and other overnight locations we can find. All of which, we feel, are great places to go for a weekend or a bit longer. The Haarlem House apartment is tastefully decorated with cozy cushions, small paintings and other fun interior accessories.
Special features
Haarlem House is a B&B and short-stay apartment right in the heart of Haarlem, located in a car-free 18th-century street, a minute’s walk from the Grote Markt. Created by hostess Döne, the interior is tasteful and elegant, with lots of throw cushions, small paintings and fun interior accessories. Döne has made Haarlem House into a warm and inspiring spot.
What’s for breakfast?
If you are staying at the B&B, Döne serves a breakfast with fresh rolls, sweet spreads, cold cuts, cheese, a boiled egg, fresh fruit salad, and juice, coffee or tea. If you are staying in the apartment, all the ingredients for a breakfast will be there for you to prepare yourself. Or you could enjoy breakfast out at one of the many cute cafés in the neighborhood.
Our tip
Haarlem is a city with lots of hofjes (courtyards surrounded by almshouses) dating as far back as the 14th Century. We really recommend taking the free tour of the hofjes that guides you through fourteen of the prettiest courtyards and hidden hofjes too.
Good food
Karmozijn is a great place to go and has a unique concept. The cook arranges everything: from the food to the music. Another option is Metzo, which has a wonderful terrace to sit in come summertime.
B&B rooms, €95 per night, including breakfast. The apartment starts at €125 per night. There is paid parking for your car in the garage.
