We have been collecting all the best getaway venues: B&Bs, hotels and other places to stay. All great destinations for a weekend away or a bit longer. Owners Arjan and Rixt rent out the wonderfully light front part of their old Frisian farm, where you can prepare your own breakfast in the morning with homemade granola.
Special features
The front part of the old farmhouse of your hosts Arjan and Rixt has been converted into a lovely holiday home. The owners of the house lived in Curacao for years and it shows in the interior: bright colors combined with lots of wood and natural materials. There is a nice big kitchen where you can have your breakfast together. The bath stands on a raised platform: in the evening you can step straight from the bath into your bed. The large garden with fruit trees is a very pleasant place to rest. The private terrace has an outdoor heater and you can sit outside under the tree with lights all night.
What’s for breakfast?
You can make your own breakfast. Upon request a set of glass jars filled with a variety of home-made granola, nuts and seeds will be set out for you to mix your own healthy breakfast cereal.
Our tip
Sailing down the Luts river in a fluisterbootje (silent boat). You take the boat from a little port which is walking distance from It Flinkeboskje. You can sail to the edge of the Slotermeer, passing by the little village Balk, and then stop at Badmeester Keimpe for a little drink and some house-smoked eel on their large terrace.
Good food
In the cute little town Hindeloopen, park on the dyke and walk along the little alleys and streets to the old harbor, where a good meal is waiting for you at De Hinde (www.dehinde.nl). In the summer they serve fish straight out of the IJsselmeer.
