We’re gathering the addresses of the best B&Bs, hotels and other overnight locations we can find. All of which, we feel, are great places to go for a weekend or a bit longer. The Ballumerhoeve in Ameland is a farm from the fifties, with two lodges that can be linked together. A great place to stay with friends or family.
What makes Ballumerhoeve a great place to stay?
The beautiful island of Ameland is home to a wonderful farm from the fifties that belongs to the Tuil family. Here, you’ll find two lodges, and because they can be linked together, the Ballumerhoeve is a perfect choice for a weekend away with friends, family and kids. Even the colors of the lodges enhance your stay, as they reflect the hues of the island: blue, gray, sand and taupe. There are lots of pillows, candles and a cozy gas fireplace, too. And the children are catered for with fun things to keep them busy, like a trampoline, a pirate ship and toy tractors.
Where do you sleep?
All the bedrooms reflect the island in some way, be it through a beautiful blue wall, or a soothing picture of seagulls. And in some of the rooms, you’ll also find wooden beams. After a restful night’s sleep, you all get together for a cozy breakfast round the large table.
Our tip
Enjoy a nice night out at Nobel restaurant in Ballum; the Tuil family will organise babysitting for your kids. Finish off your meal with a delicious Nobeltje, a local liqueur made using a secret recipe.
A six-person lodge at Ballumerhoeve starts at €375 for the weekend (Friday to Monday, inclusive)
