Special features
At Sonsbeek B&B you stay in your own cozy little house behind the beautiful Herenhuis of Ilse Witjes. It is located in the center of fashion city Arnhem but also has a little bit of forest nearby. The summerhouse (garden house) has a great interior decorated with a touch of Scandinavia. The duvet has a tiny floral pattern. Here you will wake up to the birds singing and the scent of the forest. In good weather you can sit in the garden with a fire burning in the brazier and plaids to keep you warm when necessary.
What’s for breakfast?
You are served a generous breakfast in your room or – when the weather permits – on a big table in the garden, at the time of your choosing. Always includes freshly squeezed juice, fresh bread and organic regional produce. Ask for the American blueberry pancakes…
Our tip
Go visit the Big Three: the Open Air Museum, the Kröller-Müller Museum and the Burgers Zoo. Owners Ilse and Jeroen are besotted with the farmers market on Sundays in Sonsbeekpark, which is also well worth a visit: www.sonsbeekmarkt.nl
Good food
Living room restaurant De Hoeksteen (www.dehoeksteen.nu) is a favorite. It’s like time traveling back to the 1950s!
Good to know
Arnhem city park Sonsbeek has been elected the most beautiful city park in the Netherlands. In the summer the park hosts the Park Open every weekend and in August and September there is the event www.sonsbeekavenue.nl.
