Combining historic events with modern-day technology, The colour of time by Brazilian artist Marina Amaral and British historian Dan Jones offers a unique perspective on the past.
Amaral has breathed full-color digital life into photographs spanning 1850 to 1960, while Jones gives each image context with a narrative that also connects it to today’s world. Charting the rise and fall of empires, the achievements of science, industry and the arts, the tragedies of war and the politics of peace, it’s a history lesson worth paying attention to.
