We’ve fallen in love with the hipster dachshunds in Esther Sepers’ new web shop, which features prints of her comic illustrations.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
“My name is Esther Sepers, I’m 23 years old, and I love flowers, plants and animals. I’ve been fascinated by drawing ever since I was little; it was my favorite subject at school and I could happily spend hours with my drawing book and colored pencils. I ‘officially’ became a freelance illustrator a few months ago, and it suits me right down to the ground! Now, I’m selling my illustrations in frames and as postcards in shops and via my own web shop. I haven’t really had any ‘proper’ art training; I taught myself how to draw. In addition to this, I also work as a florist, which I love. It’s a profession that, just like drawing, suits me really well.”
Where do you find inspiration?
“Fairy tales, animals and beautiful stories. They stimulate ideas that, eventually, end up on paper depicting my own experiences. My drawings are like little jokes or sweet phrases that suddenly occur to me.”
Why do you love to illustrate and which one is your favorite?
“The best thing about illustrating is being able to convey my own pleasure of drawing to others. My favorite illustration is the roaring bear; it’s the first illustration I made, and I knew I had to share him with others. He’s where it all started…”
