Hurray, Flow won the Mercur ‘Art Direction of the Year’! The Mercurs are the industry awards for the media sector, so it’s a great honor.

“It’s so beautiful what they are doing and they constantly reinvent themselves,” the jury wrote in its report. “Flow’s art direction is inspiring, shows love for paper, encourages to be creative and it’s amazing how many people save and treasure the magazines.”

Creative director Irene: “Our art director Karin Sonneveld really has earned this award. She has shown that paper is the medium to use when it comes to slowing down and focusing. Paper is there to be felt, smelled and cherished, and Karin knows how to translate that into beautiful issues and products. She focuses on each and every Flow publication with love and an eye for detail, she monitors Flow’s visual style worldwide, and always has beautiful ideas. We are so proud of her.”

We have been celebrating all night by dancing our socks off and sipping champagne with other magazine makers.

Some of the other winners this year are Happinez (Mediabrand of the Year and Innovation of the Year) and Donald Duck (Partnership of the Year, for their collaboration with Rijksmuseum). All winners: congratulations!
