Studies show that a few small steps can often lead to a big change. We share those little steps below.
1. Show your gratitude
Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania in the US see gratitude as the most important ingredient for general happiness. To benefit from this, all you need to do is write down three things you are grateful for every day. You will notice a difference after just two weeks.
2. Laugh
Try to see the funny side of things. When you laugh, you use fifteen facial muscles that are connected directly to the pleasure center of your brain. This leads to a quick release of endorphins, a substance that has a relaxing effect and suppresses pain.
3. Keep good company
Research at the University of California, US, shows that happiness is contagious. People who are surrounded by happy, cheerful people soon feel better, too. What’s more, good conversations can inspire and motivate you to move out of your comfort zone and try something new.
